Christmas decorations are handled by children, hung near heat, powered by small batteries and stored for eleven months of the year. This page sets out how to use what we sell safely, and — just as importantly — which claims we are not in a position to make.

How To Read Our Listings

A product page states what the maker stated to us, and nothing more. Where the maker gave us a material, a dimension, a bulb count or a battery type, we publish it. Where the maker gave us nothing, the listing is silent rather than filled in with a guess.

We do not hold independent test reports for our range and we do not describe anything on this site as certified, rated, approved, tested or safety-listed by anyone. If a specific certification, standard or rating matters for your purchase, email support@trilumitybeauty.com before you buy. We will ask the maker and pass on exactly what they tell us, including if the answer is that no such document exists. We would rather lose the sale than imply paperwork we cannot produce.

Small Parts and Children Under Three

A great deal of Christmas decor is small, and small things go in mouths. Miniature ornaments, bells, berries, beads, pine picks, figurines, snow globes, novelty glasses, and the small pieces inside craft kits and advent calendars are all choking hazards for children under three years old.

Keep small decorations and any item with detachable parts out of reach of children under three.
Hang small ornaments on the upper half of the tree, out of a toddler's reach, and put larger, softer pieces at the bottom.
Plastic bags and packaging film are a suffocation risk. Remove and dispose of them as soon as you unpack.
Unless a listing says a product is a toy for a stated age group, treat it as a decoration for adults to handle, not a plaything.

Button and Coin Cell Batteries

Many LED candles, night lamps, light-up figurines and small ornaments run on button or coin cells. Swallowing one of these batteries is a medical emergency — it can cause serious internal injury quickly, even if the child seems fine at first. If you think a child has swallowed one, seek emergency medical help immediately.

Keep loose and spent batteries out of sight and reach of children.
Check that the battery compartment on any light-up item is closed and its screw or catch is secure before you give the item to a child or put it where a child can reach.
Do not mix old and new batteries, or different battery types, in the same item.
Remove the batteries before storing an item for the season. A leaking cell will ruin the item and the box it sits in.

String Lights and LED Candles

Treat our string lights, LED candles, night lamps and light-up decorations as indoor products unless the listing specifically states otherwise. We do not publish a weather or moisture rating for any product, so do not assume an item is suitable for a porch, a yard or a damp room.

Inspect a light set before each use. Do not use one with a cracked housing, a damaged wire, a loose socket or a bent plug pin.
Do not run string lights under rugs or carpets, through doorways that close on them, or across walkways.
Do not connect more light sets end to end than the maker's instructions allow.
Switch lights off when you leave the house and before you go to bed. Do not leave a lit decoration running unattended overnight.
Keep lights and their wiring away from curtains, paper decorations, dried foliage and anything else that burns easily.

No Open Flame Near Decorations

Our LED candles exist precisely so you do not have to put a live flame near a tree. Do not use real candles, matches, lighters, sparklers or any open flame on or near a tree, wreath, garland, stocking or paper decoration. Keep decorations clear of fireplaces, wood stoves, space heaters, radiators, stovetops and hot bulbs.

We make no flammability claim about any product on this site. Nothing here is described as flame retardant, fire resistant or self-extinguishing, and you should not assume that any decoration will behave safely if it catches.

Glass and Ceramic Ornaments

Glass ornaments break, and broken glass cuts. Handle them by the cap rather than the body, and hang them where they will not be knocked by a door, a tail or a sleeve.
Do not hang glass or heavy ceramic pieces on the flimsy outer tips of a branch. Put them on a thicker inner branch closer to the trunk, where the branch can hold the weight.
If one breaks, keep children and pets away, pick up the large pieces with a stiff card rather than your fingers, and vacuum the area afterwards for splinters you cannot see.
Glass ornaments are decorations. Do not use them as drinkware, tableware or food containers.

Craft Kits, Advent Calendars and Party Supplies

Craft kits contain small pieces, and often scissors, glue, wire or pins. Adult supervision is required for any child working on one.
Read the maker's age guidance printed on the kit itself and follow it. Where an age is not printed, treat the kit as unsuitable for young children.
Costumes, Santa hats, headbands and novelty glasses restrict vision and movement. Do not let a child wear one near stairs, a road, a heat source or a naked bulb.
Balloons, inflated or not, are a choking and suffocation hazard for young children. Pick up burst pieces immediately.

Storing Decorations Safely

Let lights cool completely before you coil them. Remove batteries. Wrap glass individually and keep it in a rigid box rather than a bag. Store everything dry and out of reach of children, and inspect each item again when you unpack it next season rather than assuming it survived the year intact.

If Something Goes Wrong

Email support@trilumitybeauty.com with your order number, photos and a description of what happened. We reply within 24 business hours and we investigate every safety report we receive. If an item arrived damaged or defective, report it within 48 hours of delivery and we will send a prepaid label and replace or refund it, as set out in our FAQs.

You are also free to report a product safety concern to the appropriate United States federal consumer product regulator. We will never ask you to hold back a report as a condition of a refund.

If a product we have sold is recalled, we will email every customer who bought it, post a notice on this page, and refund or replace the item however long ago it was purchased.
